01/07/09 - EU-Critical Group in European Parliament launches

At 3pm today (1st July) a new Euro-critical Group in the European Parliament will launch. The event will take place in the European Parliament, Brussels, in room ASP 1E2.

 

“I am delighted to announce the formation of this group. It is a cohesive and broad based Group that will be able to build on the effectiveness of the Independence/Democracy Group from the last Parliament," said Nigel Farage, UKIP leader and the current President of the IND/DEM Group.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage gives a lesson in democracy on behalf of the Independence/Democracy group after Hans-Gert Pöttering's farewell speech in this last session before the European Parliament ends its 5-year term for the European Elections on 4-7 June 2009. The fact Mr Farage "can give such a speech shows that this is a free and democratic European Parliament," the parliament's president, Hans-Gert Pöttering pointed out after the speech.

 

For a more democratic EU, vote for Eurosceptic, EU-critical and EU-reformist candidates in your country. You will know who these candidates are are since they are the ones who oppose the centralist Lisbon treaty.

20/03/09 - UKIP: Barroso's power grab and his knuckling under to blackmail

The President of the European Commission Jose Barroso today made a successful power grab, taking control of Europe's financial strategy - sidelining national leaders, including Gordon Brown.

 

In Barroso's own words, the EU line is now "concretised" for the G20 in a fortnight's time.

 

In/Dem co-President leader Nigel Farage said "This means in eurospeak that national leaders no longer have any say. Gordon Brown shouldn't bother even turning up to his own summit, he's already agreed to do whatever Barroso tells him.

06/03/09 - IND/DEM Group MEPs meet Czech president Klaus

Prague - Czech President Václav Klaus discussed European integration and the Lisbon treaty with representatives of the Independence/Democracy EP group whose members are called Eurosceptics, Czech MEP Vladimir Zelezny, member of this EP group, has said. He, however, calls the group members "Eurorealists." Klaus also calls his stance "Eurorealistic." One of the main topics discussed at today's meeting with Klaus was his speech in the European Parliament on February 19, Zelezny said.
